As an artist educator I strive for a shift in perspective through empathy and artistic intervention.
Through Painting and Printmaking I wish to give the subject of mental health issues a body in which it can manifest and show itself to the world. The work, inevitably, has a vibe that is a bit darker, and evokes a feeling of loss. It’s draining, isolating, numbing and confusing, all seeping through at the same time.
Within the medium of painting this emerges within abstractions that seem to be appearing and disappearing. The prints, collages and small drawings of the same theme, speak in an entirely different way: They rather shout and tend to scream in a more provocative attitude.
